Every winter, my family and I spend a couple of festive days relaxing and working on the Isle of Arran. It's one of my favourite things to do in the winter months-a perfect wayto slow down after a busy November in our business and before the busyness of Christmas gets really underway.
One thing we always have to do during our time on the island is visit Brambles restaurant at Auchrannie Resort in Brodick. For years, my family have been visiting this restaurant during our holidays to the island. It was one of the first places I tried Scottish seafood, which has become a love affair I've carried into my life in the Scottish Highlands now.

On a recent visit in December, we enjoyed some of the most special food we've had in a while. Most of our group didn't opt for a starter, except my brother who ordered the lobster and crayfish rarebit. He's had this before on a previous visit, and we really think it's one of the most interesting starters we've had at a restaurant. The creamy, cheesy sauce works so well fresh crayfish and lobster. It was salty and sweet and oh so decadent. I'd highly recommend giving it a go if you're visiting Brambles.

For my main, I opted for another fishy option. Baked cod, with North African spices, served with butter beans, tomatoes, chorizo, and chermoula. I generally always opt for something fishy when we come to Brambles, and I have never been disappointed with any of the dishes I've tried. This was was unique and really interesting. I love chorizo as well, so combining the two was something I really enjoyed. If you love an interesting fish dish, I couldn't recommend this one more.
Other members of my family enjoyed meals such a venison bourguignon, Scottish mussels in a garlic, white wine and cream sauce, and a baked fillet of seabass. We all loved our meal here, as we always do, and I'd highly recommend checking it out if you're visiting the Isle of Arran, especially if you're a seafood fan.
