Cafe Biagiotti, Beauly

One of my favourite ways to spend a day off in the Scottish Highlands is to get in the car, drive for an hour of two and get lunch or a coffee in a wee shop in wherever we end up. It's these little everyday adventures like these in the Scottish Highlands that really made me fall in love with this place and part of the reason behind starting this blog in 2021.
One of my favourite places I discovered during these wee adventures is Beauly, the cute village just outside Inverness where legend says Mary Queen of Scots exclaimed "C'est un beau lieu" and gave this place it's name. We travelled a lot to Beauly over the years, but one spot I hadn't been to until very recently was Cafe Biagiotti.
This Italian cafe, founded in 2017, is a bright and beautiful spot, right on the corner of the main square in the heart of the village. We visited on a particularly sunny spring day and there were even tables outside to enjoy lunch or a coffee in the sunshine. After our long winters here in the Scottish Highlands, there's nothing we enjoiy more than getting ourside again to enjoy some sunshine.
We were only stopping for a takeaway lunch whilst in the middle of a busy sales day, but we managed to pick up some delicious foccacia sandwiches to enjoy for our lunch. I enjoyed a chicken and pesto mayo foccacia sandwich, whilst Finlay had a goat's cheese, butternut squash and rocket foccacia sandwich. These were £7 each, which I think was a pretty great price for something so filling, homemade and special like this.
To have alongside our lunch, we picked up some iced lattes (my first iced coffee of the year) and some of their chocolate beignets. These are little choux buns filled with chocolate cream and covered in chocolate on top. These are my favourite types of cakes: simple, yet delicous and made with care and love.
Although we were just making a flying visit during this trip, I hope we can visit again in the future and manage to sit in to enjoy lunch inside this spot. Another fantastic option they have is a selection of homemade pasta meals you can make at home (which make a great easy dinner option if you were planning a self-catering trip around this area of the Scottish Highlands).
