Lossiemouth Beach, Moray

I know what you're thinking. Moray isn't technically Highlands, Heather.

When I started this space 4 years ago (can you believe it's already been 4 years!) I set myself quite strict rules about the kinds of places I would include on the blog. I wanted to strictly highlight places to visit and enjoy only in the Highland region. As time as gone on, however, I've realised there is just as much beauty in places like Argyll and Moray as there is in the places that are closer to home to me (such as Skye and Lochalsh).

One thing that can't be overlooked about this part of Scotland is the absolutely incredible beaches that make up the coastline here. I've said before that Nairn Beach is one of my favourite beaches in the Scottish Highlands, and Lossiemouth Beach is very similar to that. With long silveer sands and a wind coming off the North Sea, visiting in February really gave us that fresh taste of salty sea air. We ended up walking along the beach for about 30 minutes before turning back to head for some lunch in the harbour.

After our walk along the beach, we headed to Harbour Lights for some lunch. This local spot was such a treat, with some fantastic lunch options specialising in seafood. For lunch, I enjoyued a crayfish and mango salad, which came with a Scottish raspberry dressing, whilst my friend had lemon sole goujons with chips. If there's one thing I've learned to truly love since living in the Scottish Highlands, it's to appreciate really good seafood (which there is a lot of in the Scottish Highlands). These little crayfish were so delicious and sweet, and are fast becoming one of my favourite types of seafood to have.

I had never really considered exploring Lossiemouth before our recent visit, but I absolutely loved exploring Lossiemouth. Since my husband Finlay wasn't with me on this trip, I'd love to head back again at some point to explore with him.
