What's December Really Like in the Scottish Highlands

A December Winter's Scene, Scottish Highlands

Ah December! The end of the year here and probably one of the most interesting months to live in the Scottish Highlands. It's a time of year that I've really grown to love and that's one of the reasons why I recently launched my first digital product, A Winter Guide to the Scottish Highlands. Inside are loads of reflections on what it's like to live in the Scottish Highlands during the coldest time of year, as well as some helpful planning tips for making your next winter adventure to the Scottish Highlands truly magical.

A Christmas scene, Scotland

At the start of December most years, my family and I head over to the Isle of Arran for a wee festive getaway. Growing up, we used to always visit the island during the summer holidays, until one year when we decided to book a trip in December. It's a completely different time of year to visit but I absolutely love visiting the island at this time of year. If you want to discover Arran in the wintertime for yourself, check out these blogposts about my winte adventures on the island.

For me, one of the biggest highlights of living here in December is all the things that take place in the run up to Christmas. As a Christian, Christmas is one of our most important times of the year and I love to have something to celebrate at this time of year. One of my favourite things to do is gather together with friends and family to sing Christmas carols together, followed by some mulled cider or apple juice and festive treats.

Over the years, I've shared a fair few blogposts refelecting on this time of year and what Christmas means to me as a Christian. If you want to check those out, you can find them below.
