Cafe 1925, Isle of Skye

If you've been reading my blog for a number of years now, you'll know how much I love the Sleat Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. It's such an incredible corner of the Isle of Skye that I've loved exploring and getting to know better since moving to the Scottish Highlands five years ago. At this time of year, when the busy summer season is still a long way off, one of my favourite things to do is get out and explore the places we often tell tourists to visit, but don't always get a chance to visit ourselves at this time of year.
A few weeks ago, we took the oppurtunity on a dry Saturday to discover somewhere I had been hoping to return to with my husband. I first walked to the Point of Sleat in July 2024 with one of my friends who was visiting from Glasgow. It was a beautiful day and we loved the walk and the chance to see the sea so much.
On that visit, we also visited Cafe 1925 in Ardvasar. It's a cosy little spot inside what was once an old post office. It's a small cafe, but absolutely bursting with local characters and charm. We ended up sitting at a table with a lot of Sleat locals and getting to know the people that call this place home.
We stopped for lunch before heading to off on our walk. I had a roasted red pepper and tomato soup (probably one of my favourite varieties of soup, especially on a cold winter's day when you're longing for summer) and Finlay had a roasted goat's cheese salad with roast veggies and cous cous. We really had no idea what kind of food to expect when we arrived at Cafe 1925, but the food we had this day was incredible. Warming and hearty, perfect for filling us up before we headed out for our walk.
Another bonus about Cafe 1925 is its proximity to the ferry terminal at Armadale. It's only 3 minutes drive from the ferry terminal at Armadale to Cafe 1925, which would make it the perfect spot to have lunch once you arrive or just before you leave the island. So if you are catching the Mallaig-Armadale ferry, this might be an ideal spot to check out once you arrive on the island.
Cafe 1925 is currently open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm. If you want to keep up to date with information about what's going on there, check out their social media pages here.
