The Seafood Shack, Ullapool, Wester Ross

For me, nothing feels more like summer in the Scottish Highlands than enjoying some fresh seafood. I love fish and seafood, and I'm so thankful that there are so many places throughout the Highlands and Islands to enjoy these delicacies.
One of my absolute favourite places to enjoy seafood in the Scottish Highlands though is The Seafood Shack in Ullapool. When I first started my blog five years ago and made my initial list of places I wanted to visit around the Highlands and Islands, The Seafood Shack was high on my list.
We visited for during my first time visiting Ullapool in September 2024 and I've been dreaming of coming back ever since. So I was so excited when we had a free Saturday at the very beginning of August to go back to Ullapool.
We ended up having an early dinner at The Seafood Shack before heading home. It wasn't a super warm August day, so Finlay had the Mac and Cheese with Ullapool Hot Smoked Trout, peas and chorizo. I decided to have what I had on my last visit, their incredible Haddock Tacos, served with red cabbage, limey avocado, siracha mayo, chillies and coriander. I fell in love with fish tacos on our last visit, and these Haddock Tacos were so good. The batter on the fish was incredible and honestly I've been thinking it since we left.
