The Ways of the Kingdom

"But many who are first will be last, and the last first."

Matthew 19:30

It's easy to see the world that we live in is broken. Wars are raging the world. Every year, the summers are getting warmer and the weather is getting more unpredicable.

At the same time, it's so clear to see the injustices in the world around us. We recently got our first trillionaire in the world. I can't even begin to imagine what it looks like to have that kind of money. It seems obscene to me, and in reality I'm actually doing a lot better than many people in the world, even better than some other people that call the Scottish Highlands their home too.

Reading verses like this though fill me with such hope for the future. The Kingdom of God is not like this world. It's a place where the last shall be first and the first shall be last. It's a place where the King on the throne isn't just a magnificent and glorious King, but He's also who was born in a stable in Bethlehem and who washed the feet of His disciples on the night before His death. His Kingdom will look so completely different from the world we are now, and the truly beautiful thing is that His Kingdom will be the one that lasts.

For me, being a part of that Kingdom is what truly matters to me, and it's made me long for His Kingdom all the more.
