""Though the mountains may depart

and the hills be removed,

but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,

and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,"

says the Lord, who has compassion on you."

Isaiah 54:10

At the camp where I became a Christian, we would sing this little song as a chorus during our daily meetings to hear about the Christian message. I loved singing growing up and this wee song quickly became one of my favourites. Over the years, this verse has continued to be a helpful reminder of God's faithful love, even in the midst of difficult and scary times.

Right now, the world is feeling like a scary place to live. The news is constantly full of things which are genuinely terrifying to me. Sometimes it can feel like the world is such a heavy place to be.

This verse is reminder that, even in these times, God's steadfast love, His everlasting and eternally faithful love, will not depart from His people. He is watching over us, protecting us through it all.

Having this promise of God in my head throughout this week of turmoil has been such an incredible reminder of His compassion to me, His steadfast love for me and that, in the midst of it all, He is there.
