Snow and Sin

"Come now, let us settle the matter,"
says the Lord.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool."
Isaiah 1:18
We had our first flurry of snow recently in the Scottish Highlands. Unlike a lot of people, I love when we get snow here in the Scottish Highlands. I love the way it brightens up our dark winters here. I love the crunch of the snow under my feet and I love the way my dog enjoys playing in the fresh snow.
Snow is also a clear reminder of one of my favourite images from the Bible. This verse from Isaiah is one of the favourite reminders of everything Jesus has done for me. My sin was red, and yet Jesus made it white as snow. The biggest stain on my life was made completely clean because of His love for me.
It also reminds me of one of my favourite Christian songs of the last few years, At the Cross. One of the lines in the chorus reads,
"Where you're love ran red,
and my sin washed white,
I'm in awe of you,
I'm in awe of you, Jesus."
There are plenty of daily reminders of all that Jesus has done to transform my life. This wintery image is one of my favourites to remind me of the awesome love of Jesus and all that He's done to transform my life.
